Welcome to SannECURE Investigations and Security at TheDetectiveUnit.com
Joseph "Joe" DeSimone, Licensed Private Investigator, Notary Public and Police Sergeant (RET) is the founder and owner of SannECURE Investigations and Security.
He was issued Private Investigator/WatchGuard License (LP1053*) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2018. Until his retirement from law enforcement in 2021 he was one of only a very small handful of active, sworn Massachusetts police officers approved to hold such licensing.
As a sworn, active police sergeant he could only begin to apply for licensing after first being advised by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Ethics Commission and being vetted by the police commissioner and the department's and city's legal advisors/counsel (resulting in several restrictions due his employment as a police officer).
After incorporating with the Commonwealth, he applied for licensing, was subjected to a background check by the Massachusetts State Police and eventually licensed as a Private Investigator. It was a much more difficult process than usual, and it is why there are so very few active police officers with such licenses.
He has almost 34 years of law enforcement experience and spent 32 years working at the fifth largest Massachusetts police department. This department serves nearly 120,000 residents in one of the most densely populated, highly diverse and demanding urban communities in the country.
Joe spent nearly 20 years as a detective/detective sergeant in the Major Crime Unit. He worked and/or supervised cases ranging from bike thefts to murder.
He has experience in the Anti-Gang Unit and Patrol (as an officer and a patrol sergeant).
Joe is also a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Certified Basic Firearms Safety Instructor.
